Built by an umpire

About HockeyUmpire

HockeyUmpire is built by Ludo Raedts, a KNHB bond umpire from the Netherlands, for umpires who want clarity and control during real matches.

It started from a practical problem: during a match, an umpire needs time, score, cards and penalty corners to stay connected in one reliable flow. HockeyUmpire is the app I wanted on the pitch.

Built from match experience

HockeyUmpire is shaped by live umpiring: fast decisions, limited attention, weather, battery constraints and the need to report clearly afterwards.

  • Apple Watch control for the moments when looking at a phone is not practical
  • iPhone setup, history and analysis for context before and after the match
  • Feedback from umpires who use the app in real match situations

Designed around hockey rules

The app setup is designed to support common FIH match formats, KNHB competition formats and formats used by other national federations.

HockeyUmpire is not an official FIH, KNHB or federation product, and it is not endorsed or certified by those organisations. Always check the current rules and competition regulations that apply to your match.

Innovation with a practical goal

My professional background is in customer experience and digital innovation. HockeyUmpire applies that same mindset to umpiring: remove friction, keep the interface clear and make the tool useful under pressure.

The result should feel simple during the match and useful afterwards. Everything you need. Nothing you do not.

Contact and feedback

For bugs, support or privacy questions, email HockeyUmpire directly. For ideas and feature requests, use the public feedback page so other umpires can vote and add context.
