Privacy policy - HockeyUmpire

1. Who we are

HockeyUmpire is an app for field hockey umpires that helps manage matches and timers on iPhone and Apple Watch.

2. Data processed by the app

HockeyUmpire does not collect or process personal data on external servers.

The app only uses functional data that you enter yourself, such as:

• match configuration (match duration, periods)
• scores and match events (goals, cards, penalty corners)
• timer states

This data is:

• stored locally only on your iPhone and/or Apple Watch
• never shared with HockeyUmpire or third parties
• not used for analytics, tracking, profiling, or advertising

3. Storage and synchronization

All app data is stored locally on your device.

There is no cloud storage and no HockeyUmpire-managed backup.

Any device backups, such as iCloud backups, are handled entirely by Apple and controlled through your device settings.

The only data exchange performed by the app is between:

• your iPhone and Apple Watch
• using Apple’s secure Watch Connectivity framework

4. Apple Health (HealthKit) integration

HockeyUmpire offers optional integration with Apple Health.

• This feature is disabled by default.
• You can enable or disable it at any time in the app’s settings.
• When enabled, the app may record a workout to Apple Health during a match.

Health data that may be written to Apple Health includes:

• workout duration
• activity type (umpiring as a workout)
• metrics provided by Apple Watch such as heart rate, movement, or energy expenditure, depending on device and permissions
• optional workout route (GPS) for outdoor matches when GPS routing is enabled

Important clarifications:

• HockeyUmpire does not store Health data on its own servers.
• All Health data is stored and managed by Apple Health on your device.
• If you enable Apple Health, HockeyUmpire may read your saved workout route back from HealthKit to show a route map or heatmap in match history.
• HockeyUmpire does not sell, share, advertise with, or profile this Health data.

Health data is never used for advertising, tracking, analytics, or profiling.

5. Network usage and external services

HockeyUmpire:

• uses no analytics, advertising, or tracking tools
• does not connect to any HockeyUmpire servers
• uses optional network access only for the news section when you open that part of the app

News feature:

• HockeyUmpire can optionally fetch headlines, summaries, and links from selected third-party hockey RSS or Atom feeds
• when you open an article, the content is shown by default through the publisher’s website in the in-app browser, or in your default browser if you choose
• those third-party websites may process technical data according to their own privacy terms
• HockeyUmpire does not use the news feature for advertising, cross-site tracking, or user-level profiling of reading behavior

If you tap a link to a hockey federation or external website within the app:

• the link opens in the browser of your choice
• any data processing on that website is outside the control and responsibility of HockeyUmpire

6. Notifications

The app may use local notifications to signal timers or match events.

These notifications are handled entirely on the device by the operating system.

No notification data is sent externally.

7. Data sharing

HockeyUmpire:

• does not sell data
• does not share data with third parties
• does not use data for marketing or advertising purposes

8. Your control

Because all data is stored locally or managed by Apple:

• you can delete match data within the app
• you can revoke Health permissions at any time via iOS Settings
• uninstalling the app removes all locally stored app data

9. Changes to this policy

This privacy policy may be updated if the app’s functionality changes. The most recent version is always available within the app and on the website.
